Ashtanga Yoga

This challenging and upbeat class is the longest running Ashtanga class in Ann Arbor. For over ten years, students in this class have practiced the classical Primary and sometimes Secondary Series of the Ashtanga tradition of Shri K. Pattabhi Jois. Lots of poses, lots of breathing, lots of challenge and lots of community spirit in this committed and friendly group. Post-class brunch is a tradition. Students coming to Ann Arbor who have practiced Ashtanga in other studios will be familiar with the form and will be welcomed warmly.

If you are interested in Ashtanga but have never practiced it, be sure to have a strong background in yoga fundamentals, sun salutations, and standing and seated postures, before trying the class. The class is guided by the instructor, but the flow is rarely stopped in order to instruct a particular pose.
